Overview:
Wanting rear echelon salvage capability, SMA's "Iron Palace" went over a few design
iterations. Tracked, wheeled, and hover types were considered given how that was what their
production line specialized in. It did not take long for most designers to settle on a
versatile and proven platform, the Mech. Named after an ancient Terran word for "marching
bag," the SAC-2-IM "Sarcina" is a very straight forward design. It has the ability to
recover parts from the field, and limited cargo capacity to transport especially valuable
components. Not meant for combat but still armed, the Sarcina can engage light targets out
to medium ranges, defend itself and its assigned salvage from infantry, and counter missile
launches with a pair of Anti-Missile Systems. The inclusion on a Beagle Active Probe and
Remote Sensor Dispenser may be considered an odd addon considering how many other designers
would rather have that tonnage go toward extra storage capacity. However given how close to
the frontlines this salvager often finds itself, most operators agree that it is nice to
have systems able to keep an eye on their backs and the salvage they wish to return to
later.
