Overview:
Designed to be the largest and most powerful of QuadVee designs, the Sleipnir is a 100 ton
beast of a machine who may yet live up to expectations given enough time.
Capabilities:
Built around an endo-composite frame, with an extra light type 300 fusion core, the Sleipnir
will not win any speed races. However, these elements, combined with its tracks (in lieu of
wheels), give it as much mass versus space as is possible on a QuadVee frame. It is also
protected by as much armor as is physically possible to mount on that frame.
These features leave the machine with a possible payload of 33.5 tons. While not much in
comparison to other 100 ton designs, Clan technology can often make much of this limited
tonnage. Alternate Configuration A is about options. Perhaps limited options, but options
nonetheless. In many ways resembling the Inner Sphere’s Ontos assault tank, with smaller
LRM racks paired to an impressive bevy of energy weapons. One extended range large laser is
centrally mounted with a large pulse laser on either side above pairs of medium pulse
lasers. Each rack of long range missiles is fed by a ton of ammunition, and the final half
ton of payload is used to fit a light active probe to the design.
Deployment:
Sleipnirs are currently being distributed to Assault Clusters, which can best make use of
them. It remains to be seen what other units may gain their services in the future.
