Overview:
Fueled by his paranoia (justified or not) of another Operation Hammerfall befalling his
realm, Fontaine Marik, Leader of the Duchy of Tamarind-Abby would continue his pursuit to
revamp the Duchies military in the waning years of his life. He would turn to the
Venkateswara Battlemech Refit facility on Tamarind. Venkateswara had been producing
retro-tech models up until 3079 and much of the production facility was still around.
Infusing the small company with a substantial financial boost the facilities would be
brought back online and updated. Afterwards he would put in an order for a fast light scout
that could hold its own if not outright bully other light assets and dig out entrenched
infantry if necessary. Venkateswara eager to prove they were up to the task would eventually
present the Marten MRN-1P for service. Named after the Masopredator found in the forest of
Tamarind (a descendent of the ones found on old Earth) the new Battlemech would be quickly
slotted into lances for front line service.
Capabilities:
The Marten MRN-1P would utilize an IS Endo-steal frame fitted with a 245 XL rated engine.
This would allow the mech to hit speeds of 118 Km/h. The design team would enhance this with
the addition of five jump jets letting the MRN-1P jump up to 150 meters. 2 x-pulse medium
lasers would be installed to deal with light mechs and vehicles, while an additional 2
x-pulse small lasers, and an er-flamer would contribute supplemental damage, deal with
infantry, and flush out opposition in cover. An advanced sensor suite integrated with a
Bloodhound Active Probe would assist the Marten in ferreting out its prey or reveal any
potential predators, while a recon camera would be fitted into the head to provide support
to any friendly assets. 6 tons (101 pips) of light-ferro armor would be provided for
protection, while 10 double heats sinks would keep the mech cool if managed properly.
