Overview:
Named for the heroic warriors of Slavic myth and legend who were akin to European
knight-errants, Clan Hell’s Horses developed the Bogatyr to give their forces a capable,
home-grown medium-weight skirmisher and line fighter. Based on the Crimson Langur jointly
engineered by Clan Blood Spirit and Clan Fire Mandrill, this new machine differs from its
predecessor in several key features.
Capabilities:
Although based on the Crimson Langur, the Bogatyr is not the same OmeniMech. The Clan
scientists assigned to the project elected to decrease the power rating of the fusion core,
providing less ground speed to the design, but freeing up significant mass for other
improvements. To make up for the decrease, they did choose to provide the unit with a MASC
system to provide bursts of speed when needed. They also provided an armored skin with an
effective protection rating equal to that on the original design, but with less mass cost
due to being ferro-fibrous materials. This does limit the ability to mount certain items in
certain locations, but more than makes up for itself when considering the overall payload
increase. These changes increase the payload by 40% to 21 tons. The comm system is just as
effective as that of the parent design, and the machine is just as easy to repair, but the
leg actuators are not as well guarded. The engineers instead chose to make the design
overall less maintenance intensive (has the Easy to Maintain, Improved Communications and
Rugged (1) quirks).
The Prime configuration is similar to the Crimson Langur Prime, but instead of an ER Large
Laser and a pair of Heavy Medium Lasers, it instead mounts extended range pulse lasers. It
also shares its predecessor’s light active probe and targeting computer, and shares that
design’s 150 meter jump ability. A few extra heat sinks allow it to keep up its assault on
other units, an Angel ECM suite provides electronic warfare ability and a supercharger
enhances the design’s ground mobility.
Deployment:
The Bogatyr is slowing being deployed to all front line forces in Clan Hell’s Horses, with
several ristars fielding those first off the production lines. Most have thus far been sent
to Cavalry units and similar formations that prize mobility.

Alternate Configuration A of the Bogatyr is basically that of the Crimson Langur, except the
extended range large laser has been replaced with an extended range PPC, and Artemis IV fire
control systems were added to the missile launchers. To control the extra heat generated by
the particle cannon, two extra double heat sinks were also included.
