The EverQuest D20 RPG sourcebook since I got it for 24% off...reading through it now...it and the EverQuest comic I got a couple weeks ago almost makes me want to get back into the game...then again though, I hardly have time for it...

I wonder how many people will actually play EQd20...I think it will sell a lot of copies but it seems to me if people were that into EQ they'd be playing EQ....

Well...from a brief glanceover, it's more akin to that in the game than in 3rd, but I think has some things with third edition too...

I've only given the book a fairly surface lookover...they do use D20, but they also intro alot of stuff from the game (like delay for weapons affecting how often you can swing them, and introing the double strike and dual weild abilities from the game)...also, unlike normal D20, the races are limited to the classes they could get in the game, but they can still multiclass in the manner of third edition...also, instead of having the ECL (effective class levels) found in the normal D20 game for more powerful races, you get straight experience point penalties to advance...for instance, Trolls and Ogres have a 20% experience penalty given to them to counter other benefits...

Also, the racial ability adjustments have been altered from the normal D20...

They also give you tables to help convert your computer game characters to pen and paper characters...

I think I'd really like to get back into Everquest, but first I'll probably try .Hack//Infection (the video game version of .Hack//Sign the anime series) to see if that will settle me for it...it's a pseudo-online game (ie, you don't have to be online to play it apparently)...first I'll try the demo I should be getting in a few weeks to see if I want the game itself...one comment about the game was "And you thought EverQuest was addictive..."...

For those interested, .Hack//Sign is an anime series set in a future were an online RPG has grown worldwide...set in "The World", this is a different game from what we are used to as it is a completely virtual game...when you log on, it's as if you are in "The World", and not just sitting in front of a computer or tv (ie, EverQuest taken to the next degree)...the anime is currently being aired by Cartoon Network on Saturdays at 3PM EST...only the first two eps have come on so far...
