A: as weird as this seems, you can mount an iHGR in a turret on a mech.
The construction ruled in tac ops say it must be in the torso for mechs, or non turret locations for vehicles.
So if it's in the torso it's good. And if it's not on a vehicle it can be in a turret.
And yes I have a design that does this specifically because of that loophole.
B: robotic cockpits seem to of been superceded by the robotic systems in interstellar ops. I'm not finding an option to used an improved smart robotic control system. Which weights a bit more then the standard version.
C: Also small cockpits plus smart robotic.... because I have one of those too.

I think you need to read the game rules from Tac Ops for turrets, pg. 159. The very last sentence reads:
"Any item that cannot be mounted in a vehicle turret cannot be mounted in a ’Mech turret."

Do you remember what book Robotic Cockpit rules were originally in? I think you're right though, and have added an enhancement for this. I recall the original rules adding 5% to the standard cockpit, whereas this allows you to use it with ANY cockpit type and adding 5% to that. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

iHGR rules doesn't say it can't be mounted in a turret. Just says it must be mounted somewhere else on a vehicle. Thus it never has the opertunity to be placed in a turret.
Plus it says you can mount it in a turret on say a mobile structure. I'm also wondering if support vehicles are legally distinct enough to get away with shenanigans as well. (I mean it kind of makes sense that a wet navy warship would be big enough to so it.)
Not 100% sure on robotic cockpits, but probably maxtech.

I think you're trying to jump through hoops or bend wording to make your case. The construction rules clearly state it may only be mounted in "...the non-turret locations on vehicles.". So effectively anywhere but the Turret.
The game rules for turrets then add to this by stating "Any item that cannot be mounted in a vehicle turret cannot be mounted in a ’Mech turret."
This is VERY cut-and-dry to me. Since iHGR cannot be mounted in a vehicle turret, it cannot be mounted in a BattleMech turret. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Had some conversations around this with the product lead for MegaMekLab as they allow it. It's a bug for them and they have entered a bug report for it. Further, they shared a rules thread on the topic from 2016 that showed the ruling of it not being allowed. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Well that and trying not to have a perfectly good design that predates at least the last 2 versions of the cbt forum be erased. I don't want to have to switch to Clan tech! Don't make me do it!

I feel the pain!! That's what errata is all about. You have any idea the headache it's gonna be for me to remove the Robotic Cockpit and replace it with the SRBC? _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Remove robotic cockpit.
Add SRBC's as equipment.
Macro that replaces all instances of robotic cockpit with a standard cockpit and SRBC. Recompile the database.
And no. I get the idea behind coding, but can't do it myself so I have no idea how much of a pain in the rear I'm giving you.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up what needs to happen. Guess it isn't too hard after all!! And to be honest, I don't think there ever was a thing called a robotic cockpit. I think based on the original rules in Jihad: Final Reckoning, the system could only be added to standard cockpits and there was no improved version, so calling it a Robotic Cockpit just seemed like the right thing to do. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator
