Overview:
There is an old saying, "Its not a warcrime the first time." The A5 configuration of the
Snuggle Rabit would disprove that saying from the moment it was rendered. Admittedly it
actually isn't a warcrime to use it. Our legal system did away with circumstantial laws
centuries ago in favor of a consistent legal code. Which is fair even the Geneva and Ares
conventions were given up eventually.
Capabilities:
The A5 configuration is intended for wholesale destruction of infantry Assets. Where most
anti-infantry units focus on destroying a single platoon at a time, the A5 thinks more in
terms of wiping out companies at a time, battalions per battle, regiments per campaign.
It's mission is somewhat redundant given the general availability of Artillery tubes to our
forces, but it's ability to keep up with assualt forces allows for immediate response in the
event of entrenched infantry getting in the way, saving time and repair costs.
The tool of choice is the Thumper Artillery Cannon. Of only moderate range and sub par
damage capabilities it does have one very important trait, it can use thermo-baric shells.
Using twin guns allows for the footprint of deadly overpreasure to be extended to cover a
wider area. Secondary weapons are a trio of SRM-2s with inferno munitions. Not particularly
effective on its own it gives the Snuggle Rabit the capability to apply arson from range
against strong points it otherwise wouldn't be able to affect infantry within.
Deployment:
The age of the massed charge ended on Terra. Most planets didn't have the population
required to support a military large enough to even concieve of it as an option. And even
when that level of population was reached, the raw ferocity in the age of war made it a bad
idea to concentrate so much force in a nice easy to squash location.
Then we encountered the Gigerhost. There are some very strange societies found in the deep
periphery. And occasionally they go terribly wrong. For example the Autobots were created
when over reliance on nested drone control systems created a neural net of sorts that took
control of the system. It functioned somehow, but had major flaws. The Gigerhost does not
have those flaws. It's smart, adaptable, and can produce combat bodies at terrifying rates.
And it only sees the rest of us as biomass and a threat. And it realized modern armies are
not equipped to deal with massed infantry charges. Sure the use of Artillery can provide
cover, but eventually the guns must go silent to reload, and the tide comes in.
