Did something change in the last 5 days? I exported a custom mech design as a MTF into my MegaMekLab 0.48 in my home office.
This morning I tried to do the same thing for a different PC running MegaMekLab 0.48 release but upon loading, I get an error statement saying "While Parsing file xyz.mtf, Wrong MTF file version.”
Same designs, validated on website and other PC with MegaMekLab 0.48, opened on one PC but not the other, both updated Win11 Pro machines...
As an addendum... I went and got the .MTF file that worked 5 days ago and imported it to the MegaMekLab 0.48 on the other machine... and opened the older (five days ago) .MTF file which was valid and good with this MegaMekLab 0.48 on this PC. The mechs are the same, the sole difference in when the files were generated (5 days ago vs today).
Any ideas?

It is entirely possible. Before I give a response, which design was it? I'd like to try myself and see what may be going on.

Also, you should be able to upload MTF files to this forum now.

Thanks! I’ll look into this when I lad from my cross-country flight (SFO to BOS).
Going to MegaMek 0.49+ will require me to upgrade Java to 11 or 17, and that may break Citrix which I require to use my (Epic) Electronic Medical Record.

We definitely don't want that. How often do you export MTF and import into MML? I'll be honest, I wasn't sure anyone was actually even using that feature!.

I'm shocked... I thought it would be used often. I prefer using this site for building as I have experienced a rare glitch once in a great while with MegaMek that I cannot reconcile, but not the same here.
As it turns out, I can build here, import, and it validates in MegaMek... and I am good. The biggest advantage I find in your site is I can access it almost anywhere, whereas I have to install MegaMek on a PC... and the Java thing is... craptastic. However, MegaMek is so much more than a builder, so the comapatability allowing me to flip back and forth is valued by me.
Thanks.

I just assume because no one has talked about it or raised any issues with it. And since I don't track data on types or quantities of unit downloads, not hearing anything makes me assume it isn't used.
There's a possible future way to get it to work with an enhancement. I already have a few things that will require a "Generate Options" dialog. This can potentially be added to allow for "Pre-0.49.17 'Version' File Format". It's not an immediate fix, but something I'd have to add to the functionality.
