Overview:
The Green Dragon, informally classified as the DRG-1GD, is the
proprietary variant of the Dragon fielded by the Green Dragons
Mercenary Regiment. Based upon the new Grand Dragon refit, the
company?s Dragon battlemechs were fitted out with a surplus of SRM-6
launchers obtained by capturing enemy SRM carriers during fighting
on Connaught while under contract to a Marik duke.
Capabilities:
The Green Dragon is an even more formidable brawler than the
Dragon, at the expense of long-range punch. The PPC somewhat
makes up for this deficiency, but it is still somewhat less dangerous
a range. The lighter weapons loadout allows for 2 additional tons of
Starshield armor, greatly increasing the battlemech?s durability.
Deployment:
The Green Dragons Mercenary Company has disbursed its makeshift
design among the strike and heavy companies of the regiment, but
Major MacRhee continues to argue for their deployment en masse to
be used to exploit breakthroughs and run free in enemy rear areas.
Give the design?s high mobility, durability and strong energy-weapon
loadout, the Green Dragon could make for an excellent extended deployment
raider.
Variants:
Refit in 3051, the Green Dragon replaced the medium lasers with pulse models, the PPC with
an ER PPC, and the SRM 6 with 2 SRM 2 streak launchers. The ammunition was reduced to 1 ton.
the heat sinks were reduced to the 10, but upgraded to double capacity heat sinks. It was
re-clad with Ferro Fibrous armor with CASE.
