Overview:
Developed by the engineers of Clan Hell?s Horses to have a medium-weight fast strike and
command unit for Cavalry and similar units, the Death Knight eliminates the need to go to
Clan Sea Fox to purchase production runs of their Grendel/Mongrel design.
Based on samples the Clan maintained of the old Clan Fire Mandrill Crimson Langur, the
design has been further streamlined, with ferro-fibrous armor plating replacing the
original?s standard armor plate, and an improved sensor system installed that make it a more
effective command machine, even if those systems are now more difficult to repair and a bit
bulkier, making the cockpit more cramped (note: has the Improved Sensors, Improved
Communications, Protected Actuators, Rugged (1), Cramped Cockpit, Difficult to Repair
(sensors only) quirks).
Capabilities:
Capable of reaching almost 120 kph without any additional movement enhancements, the Death
Knight is a true cavalry machine, and 9 tons of ferro-fibrous plate provide the maximum
protection possible on the fifty ton frame. The design retains the full-head ejection system
of its forebear, and the combination of extra-light fusion core and endo-steel skeleton
combine to give it another 16.5 tons of payload that can be switched out to best meet the
needs of any combat environment.
Most initial configurations replicate those of the Crimson Langur, with some minor
modifications in regards to placement of some pieces of equipment to accommodate the
addition of the bulkier ferro-fibrous plated, and to use the extra 1.5 tons of equipment
allowed by the redesign. Additional configurations were developed to address certain other
environments, such as one for combat in a city or other heavily built up terrain that mimics
the old Hunchback?s layout and one that was developed for underwater combat.
Deployment:
So far, only enough units have been produced to give to more skilled and capable unit
commanders within Cavalry units. As more Death Knights are built, it is expected that their
use will become more widespread.
