Please Note: My old PC died, and my new PC is running windows 11 and won't run any of the existing design software. I'm using a builder platform on Android, but no current way to get the files to my PC. I'll work on it!
YM-4 Yeoman (45t Tracked IFV)
Manufacturer: Taurian Territorial Industries
Cost: 625,313 C-Bills, BV: 650
Overview: Reliable and rugged infantry fighting vehicles are a requirement for any Periphery state - and the Taurian concordat is no exception. Weighing in at 45t, the Yeoman is intended by the Concordat to be the primary go to medium tank for planetary militia. It is simple to use, maintain, and helps commanders utilize combined arms tactics. Overall the tank has been well received, and when present in battle tends to do well.
Capabilities: The Yeoman is intended to work in a combined company of tracked APCs, infantry, and Yeoman. They use the same armor - Starslab/1 - and communication equipment intentionally to make the vehicle as friendly to local supply lines as possible. A Yeoman can be placed anywhere within Concordat space and find a ready supply of spare parts and ammunition. As a result, it is almost impossible to "destroy" a Yeoman. Chances are, even if heavily damaged, support engineers will be able to repair and rebuild it.
Everything about this tank is designed to help it survive. The crew have direct access to the infantry bay, such that in the even that the vehicle is badly damaged, they can escape out the rear. The large GM engine is mounted in the front of the vehicle, with a whooping 10.5 tons of armor from front to rear.
This is not at the expense of firepower either. An AC/5 (turret), two SRM-2 (forward) systems, and one machine gun (forward) provide exceptional combat capability. Two tons of SRM ammo are often divided between smoke and incendiary rounds to allow the Yeoman more battlefield management.
Finally, the standard Yeoman is able to carry an entire platoon of foot infantry into battle. With their additional weapons and firepower, the Yeoman represents a significant threat on the modern battlefield.
Deployment: Currently, the TDF is the only fighting force utilizing the Yeoman. It is primarily used in armor/infantry mixed forces for planetary defense - especially around factories and other important strategic locations.
Battle History: Currently the Yeoman has been engaged in only a handful of fights - mostly with bandits, some homegrown, some from outside of the Concordat. In all cases, it has handled itself well.
Variants: As with any vehicle in the Periphery, it is subject to modification upon receipt. Especially if a gun is damaged or destroyed without suitable spares. TTI anticipated this and made the machine as easy to service as possible. However, there are two official variants: YM-4C Commander's Yeoman, and the YM-5A anti-aircraft platform.
The 4C drops the infantry compartment to a single squad, while adding in advanced communications equipment (2 tons). This provides room for a commander and his or her staff to manage the battlefield though it is primarily designed with infantry support in mind.
The 5A, drops the AC/5 and SRM systems as well as the infantry compartment for two AC/2s with two tons ammo, and 1.5 tons of special radar and tracking equipment. The 5A is often paired with the 4C such that a command lance might consist of a YM-4C, YM-5A, and then two YM-4s. The enhanced radar and tracking equipment - which can pick up, track and estimate trajectory and landing zone for a dropship in orbit - can be paired with the battlefield control system in the YM-4C. NOTE: BV is 607 @ 636,188 C-Bills in cost.
