Ok I have made like a bajillion designs on here. I am thinking of finally doing a Clan Wolverine TRO, but does anyone know what program people use to do the other Fan TROs that are out there. I figure worst case I can download each TRO of each mech I have made on here and then copy and past them into some sort of PDF editor.

I'd love to know, because I've always thought about the idea of putting together a Mordel.Net Fan TRO. Some of the designs on here are pretty awesome!! But I've no idea how to even do it. I've toyed around with the thought of making it so there is a way to generate a TRO-type page right from the design, in PDF format, and with the appropriate layout. Then you can easily create a PDF book of those designs, add your own cover page, TOC, etc. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

If there was a way to generate the standard text TRO that the site already allows you to do, with the uploaded or attached image, in a landscape layout in pdf format, that would be perfect

It's not anything that is going to happen overnight, but it is something I've wanted to do. That merely makes it more probable then not it will actually get done.
However, that doesn't solve the short term problem to your question. The only thing I can think of is folks are using full-blown PDF editors to accomplish what they want. Something tells me laying it all out in Word and printing to PDF may not be that great. But perhaps I'm wrong and that's worth a try? _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

True, I may play around with it using one and then see how it prints, see if i can get a two page layout like the standard TROs

So if we were to do this from here, what would the criteria be for the mechs selected for it? _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

drive should allow download as a pdf, granted i was lazy for the test run and just copy pasted 99% from the succession wars tro. Then pasted that into my mordel design, downloaded the text and pasted into google docs. formated for 2 columns, set for landscape layout, added pic and all relevant info to page 2.

It's a good start. There's a lot of little formatting oddities, but overall I think it's good. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Just as a note, I've had to do some layout work on projects for work and either PowerPoint or Publisher can make some fairly slick stuff. I'm happy to help with setting up a template if that would help. However, dedicated publishers can usually do some magical copy and paste work where they upload everything all at once and the computer does the layout work. That I can't do.

PowerPoint isn't exactly what I would consider easy to work in. I agree you can do some pretty slick things with it, probably much more so then Word, but it is far from easy to figure out. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Yeah Publisher is the better option. But I am familiar enough with PowerPoint that I can do some cool stuff
