Overview:
When it was discovered that the Center Torso mounted Improved Heavy Medium Laser may be a
bad idea due to the instant death it causes the pilot when someone shoots an LB 20-X at the
'Mech and pops one of the laser's capacitors, they decided to take a look at the
configuration's other features as well.
The Balius E2 replaces the Improved Heavy laser in the CT with an equivalent Heavy Laser
thus eliminating the deathtrap aspect of the configuration while an added Targeting Computer
negates the flawed accuracy inherent to Heavy Lasers.
The missile systems were replaced too, with the 'Mech featuring Artemis V guidance systems
as opposed to Streaks. The Primary Reason for selecting Artemis V was the superior accuracy
offered by Artemis, but the weight savings and the fact that in contrast to Streak systems,
the Launcher doesn't seize as soon as the guidance system system is compromised were also
factors.
An aforementioned Targeting computer was added thanks to the weight savings of the new
missile systems. The ER Large Pulse Laser was replaced with a standard Pulse model for it's
better heat economy, better accuracy at both point blank and extreme ranges and lastly,
it's much appreciated lack of bulkiness that the ER Pulse family seems to be cursed with.
Finally the E2 configuration features superior heat management due lack of any ER Pulse
Lasers.
It is known that some 'Mechwarriors like to replace the LPL with an ER PPC.
