I just downloaded "Shout 2000" by Disturbed and when I was cycling though some of my bro's music, I came apon "Shout" by Tears for Fears. Why a brand new metal band decided to remake an 80's song I don't know, but now I'm worried

Cover tunes make money...folks know the original songs and thus they are more likely to check remakes...

Rappers have been having a field day with their so called sampling of older 70s and 80s tunes and adding in a couple lines like YEAH etc...while the original song is playing the back ground.

Some folks feel that doing cover tunes shows a band or groups lack of talent or the lack of creativetive to come up with new stuff...

But cover tunes have been for years by a lot bands and groups...nothing new really...

It all comes down to the money...

It's not always money. Some bands do it as a sort of 'tribute' to the originating band. Duran Duran did an album in the mid-90's which was a cover album of other acts. The title 'Thank You' suggests that the acts may have been their inspirations. (All that I know is that I found it in a pawn shop one day and that some of the little nuances make me suspect that it was a fan club exclusive.)

I bought my copy of THANK YOU from Sam Goody...so I don't think it was fan club only album...and I do recall a ton of flak that Duran Duran caught over HOW they redid some of the songs on that album...

I doubt that Limp Bizkit's remake of FAITH was a tribute to George Michiel...for an okay song from the 80s...one that you go yeah I remember it and that is that, they turned it into so rap-disco pop yelling into the microphone song that bombed.

I am willing to bet it always about the money...money makes the world go round.
