Wiz Kids posted the rules set for MWDA the other day, and I promtly downloaded and printed out. My verdict? Not bad. Although I haven't played yet, I am impressed with the execution of what I have seen so far.
While the skeleton of the Mage Knight rules is there, this is a completely different game than MK. Its a lot more aggresive, and packs a heck of a wallop in comparison to MK.
The first thing that I liked was the switch from 2 die to 3 for attack rolls. Very good, now there can be a greater range of both attack and defense values to illistrate the despairity between infantry and battle mechs.
Next thing I liked was the five modes of movement: Foot, Wheeled, Tracked, Hover, and Mech. Each interacts with terrain, and each other differently.
Next, the system for heat is both similiar to CBT while also being unique, and adding a few suprises for older players. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the alpha strike option. Basically, you click the heat dial till the mech shuts down, counting the number of clicks it takes you to get there. You ADD that total to the Normal Damage Rating of the mech for a total, and do that many clicks if the attack is successful! Can you say make things go BOOM?
Charging, Ramming (for vehicles), DFA, melee combat...its all there. The system is streamlined, but hardly dumbed down as the naysayers were whining about.
A friend of mine has scored a DEMO copy of the game, and we are getting together sunday to kick so booty, so I will post a battle report on the mayhem!

You had started this topic once before, and it had been moved to General Gaming, I believe as this technically isn't BattleTech. I'm locking this one. Please continue this conversation in the already existing thread.
