Were playing a evil race only campaign. Were all Half-orcs, well a late commer to the game decided to come in and "TRY" to take over the group as leader. Well the current leader and the newcomer faced off and after the first round, the newcomer was dead, felled by his own axe that hit his leg and severed an arteri and killed him instantly.

Lol, I think I qualified for the "most awesome character death award":

Yesterday, My 1st time playing Hackmaster, my level 1 cleric came apon a bugbear along with a fighter and a theif. In the first round, the theif was critically hit and killed instantly. The fighter missed the next round, and I healed him once, staying back. Two rounds later, he grabbed the corpse and ran out of the room, dragging him along. So, my mission was to stall: my cleric, with no spells remaining and armed with a warhammer, medium shield, and studded leather. 20 Rounds later, I had fought him to near death, shattered one of his ankles and a kneecap, and I finally was killed by a massive blow to my head (critical). It was the funnest battle I have ever played out in my life. We just stood there and swung, and he almost had him killed when he finally was killed. I loved it

Are you saying that the Fighter ran out of the room?

If I was your HackMaster GM I would whack his character ASAP for being such a #$#$% coward. Fighters fight, they do not run from a fricken bugbear! You should've wuss-slapped him yourself!

Hmm, Was Mordel playing the fighter? Sounds suspiciously like the way he plays a paladin.

The fighter was down to 2 hp and bleed from multiple wounds, he was trying to drag the theifs corpse out of the room. I decided to try and delay the bugbear.

The party consisted of a level one fighter, level one thief, level one cleric and a hired torch-bearer. It was all our first time playing and gm'ing.

Hackmaster is a spin-off of 2nd edition. dungeons and dragons. It was popularized by the Knights of the Dinner Table (KODT) comic strip by Kenzer and Co. They wanted to make it into a real RPG, and finally the license to D&D was given to them, so they rewrote some stuff. Hackmaster is like over-the-top D&D, you just try to kill try and stay honorable. All about the e.p.s

DM needs some work. Bugbears would eat a 1st level party. Kobolds are better to teach the party how to fight....

I was kind of thinking the same thing, but I don't know the Hackmaster rules...

In 2nd AD&D a Bugbear should crush a party like that.

That was the whole point: everyone in the party was slaughtered, except for me. A medium shield, +2 dex bonus, and chain mail do not make for easy hitting. He fumbled three times in 20 rounds, too. The dice were against the gm that day.
