(I am writing this from in-character)
Hello Lancemates!
The CO has assigned our Lance four 'mechs all in the medium and heavy weight categories. Not the fastest bunch, most hitting the standard 65kph, but most also have Jump Jets, so mobility won't be a huge issue.
Let's take a look at the Roster:
WVE-6N Wyvern
SHD-2H Shadow Hawk
GHR-5H Grasshopper
TDR-5S Thunderbolt
As you can see, quite a bit of firepower here.
I have tentative assignments of 'Mechs for you sorry lot, but if there are any objections, let me know. I can definitely organize some swapping if need be.
For now, I will be taking the TDR-5S Thunderbolt. It is the slowest of the lot due to it's lack of jump jets, but that suits my fighting style. Slow and steady with some withering firepower.
Ronin (name to be replaced once I get your character), I know that you have had some decent luck piloting Shadow Hawk's in the past, so I've assigned the the SHD-2H. Not the most amazing ride, but very effective in the right hands. If we pick up an PPCs as salvage, I'll speak to the chief tech about getting that autocannon swapped out.
Pcmcp and Jedidino, your rides have been randomly assigned. I literally flipped a coin.
Pcmcp, you'll be riding the Wyvern. It runs hot, but it packs a punch. Armor is a bit sub-standard though, so you will have to be careful.
Jedidino, you'll be riding the Grasshopper. Probably the most powerful 'Mech on the lance, it has the ability to jump and shoot all day long without building much heat. Solid armor to boot as well.
Now, if you have noticed, we have some of the longer range weapons in the company. 3 Large Lasers, a Class 5 Autocannon, and a total of 35 long range missiles. Yes, a standard Archer has more LRM tubes than our whole lance, but it is what it is. It'll be our responsibility to respond to threats at long range while closing as quickly as possible to bring our full firepower to bear.
The scout lance will be better at anti-infantry and anti-vehicle duty than we are, but we'll provide support for them as needed. In turn, they will provide spotting for our LRMs and let us know where we need to be and when.
We'll also have to hold larger enemies at bay until the command lance can move into brawling range and support. They are sporting some PPCs, but the Victor and BattleMaster need to close up close to bring forth their full wrath.
Let me know if you want anything changed with your assignments, we'll be shipping out as soon as the CO has a new contract for us.
Good luck.

(In character)
Mechwarrior Thomas B. Guyman reporting, sir!
I'm familiar with the Shadow Hawk, especially the 2H model. It was a common mech in the regiment where I grew up, and I did most of my pilot training in one. There's nothing a Shad can't do if you have the right pilot at the controls.
