The purpose of this machine is as sinister as its name: suppression of "heretics".
With conventional fighters such as the Guardian were needed to directly intercept and shoot down conventional aircraft operated by partisans, the Word of Blake needed a bomber aircraft to suppress partisan ground forces. Unwilling to use their aerospace fighters for such a task, the Blakists devised this craft to assist them during the Jihad.
The probe allows the pilot to help identify targets. Once a target is located, the pilot can drop their load of bombs (a specified mix of mines, incendiaries, and high explosives) before coming around to strafe. Not only does the machine gun on the aft provide protection against would-be dog-fighters, it also allows for the pilot to quite literally strafe their targets both coming and going.
Given the Liberation of Terra and Operation: Sucker Punch, these units have been pressed in service to replace losses among the Blakist Guardian and combat VTOL fleets, with the pilots being re-trained accordingly. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." For its stated purpose of strafing after a bombing run I would change its weapons load:
option 1: 4 SL + 4 SHS.
option 2: 2 SPL + 4 SHS.
The strafing attack option is only valid with energy type weapons. Option one allows the highest damage to weight, but option 2 allows for the highest accuracy to damage with a bonus against infantry.
I personally like option 2 more.
Also, dump the ferro-aluminimum. You spend just as much weight as standard. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

also, you could also drop 1t of fuel.
CFs get 160 pts per ton vs 80 pts per ton AF. Or, you might even get an effective 320 pts per ton with the StratOp airbreather rules (pg. 34). _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

I quite like it (we used MG's for strafing as a house rule since a long time ago ).
Minor quibble: fluff text describes a rear-mounted MG but the stats show only two nose-mounted ones. _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' One of them *should* have been rear-mounted. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Wolfwood to a random cat (Trigun)
