I found it laughable that, although the fluff says that the Red Shift was supposed to be a replacement for the Mongoose, it didn't have most of what the Mongoose brought to the table; in an effort to make it fast, the designers blew so much tonnage on an engine that they could only offer 2/3rds of the ELINT gear and half the laser array.

The book mechs are the committee built kind of thing...none are great and while some are good, most have major flaws.
