I got to thinking about something earlier.
The vast majority of what exists in Inner Sphere society exists among the Clans, even if only in trace amounts. We've seen negative elements, such as politics, infighting, backstabbing, and even betrayal. But we've also seen positive elements, such as individual Clanners who love to read, who keep pets, who appreciate art, et cetra.
But in all of the canon materials I've read about the Clans, not once have I seen reference to any sort of religion among the Clans; the Nova Cats have a form of mysticism or spirituality, but that's about it.
How might organized religion fit in with Clan life? Would Clanners accept it if exposed to it? _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." I could see Shinto or Nordic religions being very compatible with the warrior caste. A bastardized form of Christianity and Islam could also work, but not as neatly. On the whole though, i do not see modern organized religions being popular among the warrior and science caste. I am sure it is prolific among the lower classes especially the labor caste.
As for the response to exposure, I think the response will vary widely. Some sections would likely embrace a religion that is compatible with their world view, others will just shrug it off as irrelevant, but some will likely respond violently to the alien and barbaric traditions of the lesser castes. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

You keep forgetting that clanners do have religious people among them. Scorpions go on vision quests after scorpion sting poisoning and you've completely forgotten about cloud cobras, who are religious and have all manner of cloisters... _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

he mentioned the mysticism of certain Clans.
However, I think his question is directed at modern organized religions or their BT analogs. My memory is a bit weak on this but only Cloud Cobra possesses anything near a religious entity vs a mysticism element. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

What about the extensive sections on Clan religions as detailed in the Clan Cloud Cobra's Cloisters system in FM Warden Clans? Summarised on Sarna here.
Note that members of other Clans can well be Cloister members.
So there is a multi-religious structure that is an extension of many traditional faiths and shares a common belief in The Way.
This in turn informed the Babylon Diet to which even IS participants were invited.
And this in turn was one of the small catalysts of the Reaving Wars.
Religion is anything but non-existant amongst the Clans, even beyond the various forms of mysticism mentioned above. _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior
