There already exist ammunition which can easily penetrate bodyarmor, no matter if you make it from Kevlar or from spider silk
Flechette ammunition

They've been talking about spider silk for years. They also want to use it to make aircraft, since it is a lot lighter weight than what we use on our aircraft now, meaning stronger, more resilient fighters that can carry more and go faster. They'd probably be a pain to fix in the field, though. You probably have to replace entire panels to fix minor damage or something.

Just look at the Formula 1 where they are using carbon fibres for the cockpit to protect the drivers since several years.
The problem is not the material, the human body has reached the limit it can endure. Most Formula 1 drivers which die in high velocity accidents loose their live because of snapped spines when the g's try to tear their head from the body
For aircrafts there exist plans to build fighters with wings that point forward to fly much narrower turns. But the vibrations which try to tear the wings from the aeroplane in sharp turns have prevented this until now.

The leading source for spider silk, thus far, has been geneticly upgraded goats, which spin silk with their milk.
Strange, but true.
We're still working on a better way to get this one going.
Ironicly, between steel and spider silk lies the simple human hair. *really* strong stuff.

Forget the army, what would the Cops pay for a spider silk vest that is lighter and more comfortable than what they have now? _________________ "Those who beat their guns into plows will plow for those with guns..." -Thomas Jefferson

Can these goats climb walls too? Do they have a "goaty-sense" to warn them of imminent danger?
