Yes, I know there's already a 'mech named Cataphract, but this ship apparently shares the same name (I found it in the same folder as the Fostarr). Why I named it Cataphract, and why I gave the ship itself a name, I'm not quite sure.

What I am sure of is that it's a Frigate (400,000 tons), it's got average speed, decent firepower for its size, and strong anti-fighter/missile capability. I think it would make for a good picket ship, protecting larger ships from waves of fighters and the like.

Tell me what you think.

With this name I would expect something fast, well armored, with some long range firepower and devastating short range guns.

Well, for its' size, it has all of that (except the fast part).

And it's armed only with lasers and autocannon, with no fighters. Except for tonnage, it looks very much like it was designed for Karagin's Cataphract design challenge some time ago.

That was before you joined, but one assumes that you lurked some first before joining. Might that have been the reason for this design?

It's quite possible. I suppose now I should turn to Karagin for commenting?

Outside of my dislike for ammo depedant wepons in space ships I like the design it compairs favorably with my Bird Class Sloop .Just one small nit pick in Battletech the Frigate is between the Destroyer and Cruiser in size. Like the USN during the 1960s . I like to use the designation slopp for that size class. My Bird Class are named after WWII British ship
