Lightning Raider was designed during 2nd Succession war to give DCMS raiding parties some serious firepower.
It can easily keep pace with most mechs and hovers from Star League era and ECM shelters it from detection until it's too late.
Armor is quite thin, but speed and range form primary defense. Old laser was replaced by ER weapon to discourage pursuit, but there are no other offensive weapons.
The project was returned to life in 3065 and first vehicles had already reached the units.
Special reinforced version with retractable sledge for lift equipment protection was armed with Thumper artillery gun. this variant is used to harass the enemy from afar.
