A nice upgrade, although it looses it's "pocket assault" flavor, and becomes just another heavy 'mech by the standards of the day. I'd go with an ER PPC though; you've got the heat sinks for it.

Ya got me thinking. And then designing.

  1 Federated SuperStreak Streak SRM 2
Manufacturer:  Hollis Industries
  Location:    Lucerne
Communications System:  HartfordCo COM 4000
Targeting & Tracking System: HartfordCo XKZ 1

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Tasche was actually more a product of happenstance than actual design. At
the start of the first Succession war, on the planet Lucerne, a small
battlemech factory was just being finished, intended to manufacture the
powerful Battlemaster assault 'mech. Unfortunately, when House Kurita invaded
the world, the manufacturing plant was severely damaged.

When Davion forces finally managed to free the world, the factory had been
reduced to only semi-operation. It could still produce battlemechs, but its
structure could no longer support the massive weight of the Battlemaster it
had been tooled to create. A thorough structural examination revealed that the
heaviest chassis the facility could safely produce had been reduced to just 60
tons.

Not wanting an otherwise perfectly good 'mech plant to go to waste, Hollis
Industries quickly came up with an offshoot of the Battlemaster to be
produced. It shared virtually all of its parts with its venerable big brother,
and was easily mass-manufactured by the damaged plant.

The factory has since been completely repaired, but due to the popularity of
the 'mech it produced, it was left to continue production of the Tasche. In
3046, the plant was shut down for repair and replacement of most of its heavy
machinery. When the lines opened again in early 3048, a new version of the
Tasche began to walk out of the factory doors.

==Capabilities:==
When Hollis Industries decided to upgrade the Tasche, they looked at what it
did well, and what it didn't. While the 'mech was ton-for-ton the most
powerful battlemech ever designed, it suffered from poor maneuverability, a
fact that many opponents exploited to keep out of range of the 'mechs primary
weapons battery.

Thanks to the increased efficiency of the new "freezer" heat sinks, enough
tonnage was saved to install a Federated SuperStreak missile launcher. Lacking
a more optimal spot to place the launcher, the missile tubes were mounted in
the head, arraged so as to have one tube on each side of the cockpit. The
superfluous Krieger laser was removed, in favor of a CASE system to protect
the ammunition bays. Other important changes include the upgrading of the PPC
to an Extended-Range model, and the replacement of two of the Martell lasers
with a single Sutel Precision Line pulse laser.

==Variants:==
As yet, only one variant of the 2A has appeared, used mainly in the Draconis
March. The LRM system is downgraded from the original 15-rack to a 5-tube
system, the rear-firing laser is replaced with a Pulse variant, and the
leftover tonnage is used to install a Hovertec SRM-4, equipped with Artemis IV
FCS circuitry.

There are, however, reports that Hollis is working on a new factory variant,
one that sacrifices some of its long-range firepower and a medium laser for
jump capability.
