Overview:
Made by factions opposed to reforms within Draconis Combine... hence the lack of C3 equipment, or anything else that would interfere with honorable single combat the way that a proper samurai should fight. Mostly older technologies were used to make this design; though newer technologies that are proven beneficial were added.

Imagery was paramount to this design. Most obvious is the sword, shaped like a traditional samurai's katana. Combined with the Triple Strength Myomer, and a special switch that allows the Mechwarrior to temporarily disable heat sinks in order to activate the TSM, this allows the Mechwarrior to make "devastating strikes with his swrod, decapitating all foes", according to the press release. Advertisements include footage of the Samurai mech developing a "heroic surge of strength" and charging forward to decapitate a variety of enemy mechs, both from the Clans and the Combine's ancient enemies: Lyran Alliance and Federated Suns. The use of standard heat sinks instead of double strength heat sinks was required due to the scarcity of double heat sinks in the Combine market for all but front line manufacturers. With the hot running weapons loadout, and the TSM and sword combo, jokes about "hot-headed samurai" have already emerged. The LRM 10 system with Artemis was intended to represent the samurai's daikyu. Rounding out the weaponry is a PPC leftover from the Panther and Dragon upgrades of the 3050's, and a small laser for close-in work. The Ferro-Fibrous armors bulk proved to be a blessing, as it allowed the designers to mold the armor to resemble traditional samurai armor. Though this has been done before in other designs, the Samurai designers went one step forward: the armor around the power couplings for the PPC and small laser was designed to resemble the sheathes for a katana and wakizashi. The Samurai mech truly looks like a samurai of old, only 10 meters taller.

Capabilities:
As noted above, this mech was designed for adherents to the old ways of combat within the Draconis Combine. It's speed allows it to keep up with such popular designs as the Dragon mech and lighter elements. It's weapons load out allows for long range sparring, but the mech is intended to close the distance and use the sword. It is for this reason that the LRM 10 was only given 12 reloads of ammunition, and a regular PPC was used instead of an Extended RAnge model.

Actually i really like the fluff Very Happy,

the mech's ok.. as a modern DCMS soldier, i'm more in favour of reforms.. but there most definately will be those who might be interested in this particular mech. It ain't too shabby.

Thanks! The point I was going for was a mech that was decent in certain circumstances, but had some notable flaws; just like the old style of fighting that the hardliners want to return to. This could easily become a first rate design if made with the reform tactics in mind (which would also lead to better parts!). c3 slave, Double heat sinks, etc, and it truly would have been awesome (and perhaps predictable).
