Perhaps some of our Coast Guard,USN or (if any)DEA people can help with some of that info ...I got it from a variety of print and TV and Radio sources and the stories date back a few years ..,I have been searching the net myself I can find some of the craft but not their performance figures. You can see vidio of the craft on Miami Vice ...But I have found the lack of perfomance information frustrating.

The fastest speeds I've seen listed for "drug runner" boats is 40 knots, which is roughly 46MPH.

The article is from 2001, but I doubt there's been a 2.5x increase in speeds in 3 years.

Let's see. The drug guys see this article and get boats that'll do 50-60 knots. Then they get caught because the authorites' boat will actually do 75 knots.
Makes sense to me.

If they could get boats that went that fast they'd already have boats that went that fast...they can only buy what's available commercially. They can modify them to go faster, but that isn't as easy as it sounds as the frames only have a certain amount of tolerance. Reach that and the boat breaks up...

O.K. It took awhile but I finally found the information I was looking for the articles I readand stories I sahad mentioned that the boats used were offshore racers .Here is some info the Home page with more info for that site is here. and finaly here [url= http://www.superboat.com/ranking/rank2004/alabama.php ] are some race results [url] These where especialy popular during the 1980s the main problems they had were small cargo capacitys (a hundred or so kilos at best and fragility in choppy water ...When aircraft were brought into play along with stormy weather they fell into disuse as too dangerous

Mo, those are racing boats made for racing on lakes. If those went into the ocean they'd be in little pieces in seconds...plus they can't carry cargo because if the balance is off just a little they flip over.

Go back and read the information on those sites more carefully those are OFF SHORE RACERS the races they run in are off the east coast of the U.S.

O.K. ONE MORE TIME this is the schedule for the up coming races Including where they are held and an aerial pic of the course and the locations include the Gulf of Mexico and Florida Keys.

They're racing in bays and rivers, not the open ocean. Plus those boats don't carry cargo...

Rocket Launchers are one of those weapons that could easily be retro-fitted into the 3025 timeline. They'd certainly have 'em. MRMs are the same way.
