Actually, the RAC is quite at home on the Atlas, it gives it just that bit more punch at range, its also useful for smaller enemies where the AC20 was too much but the Medium lasers to little. Put it in a mixed IS lance and let it pummel.

By keeping the LRM intact its still got good fire support which is increased by the Artemis.

I also felt that the RAC was more in keepinng with the Davion character

RAC's are hugely underatted, and I love Davions AC style, this is actually one of my favorite Atlas variants, i think some people completely go off on one when designing mechs based on a chassis.

If i'm designing an Atlas or Zeus or whatever i keep the weapons and role as close as possible while keeping it as unique as i can. Like the Annihilator Nightwolf (the variant posted is the Mk1, Mk2 gets rid of the RL's) But the gauss rifle keeps its big punch.

But i have used this mech, and i love it, i play alot of the customs and its one of my favorite canon customs. It rips through alot of armour with the RAC, it annihilated a Marauder in a turn with that atlas, a head shot, two centre torso's, a centre torso critical in the giro and a ammo explosion.

Glad to hear it worked out so well for you. So i can move one of those mechs to your unit then eh? Can you send me the battle roms though

Yeah i like trying to keep to canon as much as possible. It's quite challenging to improve on a mech while keeping costs down. Or perhaps adapt it for a specific purpose.

My Renegade design, which I think has been my best so far, took a while to work, i think its great though, i even went as far as schematics for it.

Of my Canon designs, i made a pretty good Penetrator, it was designed as a sniper. Two large ER lasers, a few LRM5's (Seems as all the damage is concenttrated i class them as a sniper weapon) and a few Med pulses to boot. Worked quite well actually.

I also made a Catapault, it was an SRM variant, not quite the same as the canon role but it was great, at least it could keep the missile launchers, lol.

Strangely enough i have always rated the Catapault better than the Archer. Most people take the archer but i have always found the Cata more dependable. I'm going off subject....
