A mech as Guardian or Angel ECM (or one of our home versions) and the system is in range of the attacker, then the attacker should have to add a +1 at the max range of the ECM if he is in the coverage area to his to hit roll, a +2 if he is in the medium range of the ECM and a +3 at short range.

Seeing how ECM units only have a maximum range listed, by your suggestion, they would only add a +1 modifier.

This makes the ECM units very effective and allows them to actually take part in the game not be only there IF one side actually uses the C3 system etc…plus this really hurts the munchkin player and the Targ/Pulse monsters.
So what do you guys think?

I don't like it. Even the revised text for the Angel does not affect Targeting Computers. What is the justification that the Guardian and its Clan counterpart can disrupt T&T systems across the board?

I am sorry that you don't like it. I never said it would jam some across the board, I said form the start with in range of the ECM. Thanks for the comments...

My apologies for poor word use. By "across the board" I did not mean the entire playing area. I meant the entire range of Targeting and Tracking systems, including (but not limited to) the various systems used on BattleMech, ProtoMech, Vehicle, Battle Armor, AeroSpace fighters and grounded DropShips.
By the way, how would you determine range for AeroSpace fighters making straffing attacks or precision strikes?

That, the part about aerospace fighters is a good point, I would say that it would apply to the precision strikes since the fighter has to really line up the mech more or less, and if someone is spoting for it the ECM would do it's normal job of messing things up as per the rules, until either the spotter or the fighter came with in the range of the ECM...for straffs I would say it works as if against a mech...+1 to the hit roll once in range.
I will give this some more thought and toss it around my group since we are still talking this one over.. thanks for bringing up a good point...
