Besides, 2 points of damage is 2 points of damage. I hit a guy in the head with 2 points from an ac2. It was his Assault and he had to change his strategy they whole game because the head was even more vulnerable.

I'll say it again Oaf, you are just plain evil.

But it's only one itsy bitsy AC. Most battles are over before you've hit the enemy more than three or four times from long range. It's got two ER medium lasers, but then you must get closer to the enemy. This thing is not even a fire support mech, it's some designer's attempt to fill up one more config for the Fenris. Then they moved it up to A so it looks they thought of it before many others.
If I want to kill people with AC/2s I'll pick a Kraken, thanks. 10 Ultra AC/2s should be a bit more of a nuisance than one LB-2X.

But at that point you are coming into range of the ER Large Laser and ER PPC, as well as LRMs and advanced tech ac/5s; wasn't the whole point of using the LB-2X to stay out of range of those weapons in the first place? Even if I hit less with an ER PPC, I will most certainly do more damage with it over the course of a game if I am engaging you at long and medium range.

Well, duh, but you are assuming the Fenris would be alone I would use it to attack a mech that is already engaged and can't spare attention for the nuisance. However i never said it was a perfect thing either, I don't use the Ice Ferrit A. I only post ideas on HOW it could be used

The A version probably showed up when a Sibkid was left with only a small selection of pods after the "real" warriors all got their pick.
This is more of a psycological weapon than anything else. You are engaged with a mech in your face, but melee has been declared due to the I.S. using typically dishonorable tactics. Now you are taking random but minor damage from a mech you cannot find...... It would have to affect your decision making, especially after a hit to the head, or a Crit result.

This is the exact reason that I changed around my Atlas so that it has 2 Ultra AC 2's. Love the range and chance to reach out and touch someone when they forget just how small of a world it is.
He made the mistake of giving me partial cover on his mech. Even with the +3 The other modifiers were small enough that it was an easy hit and got 2 hits to the head with the AC 2. hehe
