It may not be a munchkin mech, but it is definetly a loophole mech. The rules just don't cover someone making a mech with such massive heat. An ammo explosion happens on a 8+ on 2d6 at 28 points over heat. So what happens at 240 (or 8 times enough to practically guarantee the ammo explodes)? And all in one single turn?
The thing just melts on the spot, that's what! And that would be a zero chance of pilot survival since he did it to himself. _________________ "Those who beat their guns into plows will plow for those with guns..." -Thomas Jefferson

But it does not say that in the rules. In fact. All I can find is the rule about the mech shutting down.
With this loophole in mind. Picture this
A 100 ton mech. No armor, 1/2/0/move. endo structure. XL engine. no heat sinks. And as many ERPPCs you can cram in to it. I think about 14 (using clan tech) would fit. That is a damage of 210 points. Your mech is gone. but so is what your shooting at.
That is just wrong

In level 2 you just shutdown.
There are different levels on the level 3 heat scale--off the top of my head I don't recall what they are--but an avoid ammo explosion roll does get higher than 12 at some point on it.

I suppose it'd be good for assassinations, however, 11 million is a lot to just throw away. A cruise missile would be so much more effective IRL. _________________ I have the right to remain silent. Anything I say will undoubtedly incriminate me.

Well ICER, you have to hit with a good chunk of those to even effect the average assault mech.
Hell, I'd take a Wraith against it and I suspect I'd easily survive.

I was gunna say a Spider but the 2ML (or 2MPL depending on version) wouldn't generate enough crit rolls...you kinda need that 3rd weapon.

Plus the other mech only needs to get a few shots in to kill a spider, even if they are only ER Medium Lasers. The Wraith can take a LOT of those before it starts worrying. And given it's movement, you're not gonna hit that often. I also would take the Wraith.

Fear, that's for the other people to worry about. The Wraith is just another mech. It's the Jockey that you need to wory about. Stop wasting time fearing and use that time to kill it.
Sir Henry, Not afraid of any mech.

Well this demostrates a certain style of play. One on one dule on one map board. This would rule the field, or at least be a serious contender. So it works fine, in a very limited manner. On a true battlefield it is a waste of resources.
AWAD- This thing would get popped everytime in a company engaugement

Actually, if my math is correct all the heat sinks would rest inside the engine any ways, so DHS are an option (leaving you only 242 points of heat to worry about.) Either way, that mech is not a good idea.

I remeber a discussion about figuring out How hot is hot. The maximum bonus for standing in water was set at 6 hp. Since once the water starts to boil, it doesn't get any hotter and is already transfering heat. 30 hp would be literally baking the mech warrior in his own juices. Anything above that would require a hostile environment suit to endure for more than a minute.
Simple common sense about what levels of heat the pilot can be expected to survive rule this mech out. Things in the Cockpit would flash over as well and burn him. Myomers would ignite, heck I suspect a large majority of the wiring and such would melt. The insulation would break down causing massive shorting.
Heck wotith it, alpha strike and containment on your reactor is breached, build a new mech. Evolution has just gathered up another unfit mechwarrior. _________________ Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side & a dark side, and strings also lie under it all.
