Every now and then I come across groups at the gaming store playing minis games of classic battles, like D-day or Waterloo. I have also heard that some people like to use the Osprey books for setting up historic scenarios. Is there a common set of rules in use for these types of battles?

Vampire, aren't you into classic battles?

There are a lot of us out there who enjoy recreating historical battles in miniature as well as sci-fi battles. As far as your question about rules used, there are a *wide* variety of rules published for just about any historical period you can imagine, with ancients, Napoleonic and WW2 being very popular. People choose the rules that best fit their tastes (and predjudices...).

Personally, I enjoy mostly "modern" (post 1900) games, with WW1 and WW2 being favorites. I have painted WW1 and WW2 Russians, WW2 Canadians, and WW2 Italians, amongst others. Currently I am on a mid-19th century kick and am, for inexplicable reasons, painting a whole army of Austrians from the 1860s.

If you are interested in getting more information you can check out the home page of a historical miniatures club here in Central Texas, of which I am a member:

Find the group called the Historical Minatures Gaming Society. I think they have a web site, name an era and there are rules and the likes. I play DBA, Fire and the Fury, Micro Armor, and many others. Some have different ways. But many games come with scenarios. If it comes to WWII get ASL, choose a battle and convert as close as possible to the minatures game you are playing.

AWAD- whose arab army (time of Mohammad) is gathering dust.
