I've seem many postings on many boards about this battle, and I've come to a couple conclusions...
a)Many who play this game have no f---in' clue what the rules really are, and
b)Of those that know the rules at least half have no clue how to actually play the game.

Ha, too true chihawk. When a rules question came up I usually knew the answer before the GM. And most of the time I could call hit locations without looking at the table, and had my to-hits calculated before it was my turn to fire.
We had some people throw out rule wannabes that I've never heard before. One was that a piloting check had to be made when a unit jumped into a heavy woods hex. And another was that elevation changes were included in counting range to targets. Believe it or not the GM actually had to look these up.
But I don't want to dis the GM because he actually did a good job running the event. Most of the rules were pretty clear and it was only when a bunch of people disagreed that he looked them up.

When I run into a GM that has made a ruling that I know to be contrary to the written rules I politely ask "May I please show you in the book a passage that you may like to read before makng you final decision?"
I have only run into a couple of GMs that will not look at the book when you ask in that manner. Everyone makes errors (including myself), and any respectful GM should not be offended when asked in a polite manner.

We all have the tendency to go brain dead every now and again. If a player wants to see the Balck and white, then I show the black and white.

Now that's different--if a players asks I tell him to look it up himself.
I will not hold up a game for one player asking me to prove my decision--if he thinks I'm incorrect he needs to show me in the book I'm wrong.

So did I (know rules), but some problems arise with older players like me. We remember the older rules. Trust me some things have been altered or glossed over by the new rules. This was an issue. I was called on it once. But I became the human damage location calculator as I would just call off locations.
As for jumping into heavy woods I do not remeber if that was a rule. But it is a very popular house rule.... and makes some sense. That is where many of the fights and confusion comes from.
Best for a GM is to pull out the book and let it do the talking for him.
AWAD- Do leg actuator hits affect the chance of being hit by a charge? (target has no hip)

Okay I just got thru poking around and checking figures. As of this posting Davion/AFFS has 28 wins Lyran/LAAF has 15 wins. Most of the data comes from the CBT board. 38 out of 59 locations are reported 3 locations had multiple games.

Just got the word from the Arlington group. The Davs won over there as well. That makes it a sweep for the Feds in Dallas.

YES! Remember, a Charge is modified by the difference between the two players Piloting Skills. And your piloting skill is affected by your actuators being hit (among other things). Therefore, if the two pilots were equal, and then you got a hip actuator critical. It would be 2 easier for me to charge you, or DFA as well. So if you stood still I would only need a 5, not a 7 (assuming you stood in a clearing). _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Might be worth "getting sick"...this is one of the largest battles I've ever run and I'm sure it's going to be great fun for all.

if there are no vacations in my dept that week (I'll check tomorrow) than there's a good chance I'll be sick. Otherwise I won't as my boss is too good to me, and I wouldn't leave him hanging like that.
BTW Here's the
PICS FOR MONTE DIABLO
in Salem,MA. (I fixed it so you don't have to sign up to view them, just follow the link)

For anyone that saw....Rarich posted a message containing a table of some "unofficial" results of the scenario, but there was a HUGE gap above the table he nor I could fix.
After several attempts he finally deleted the post, and I deleted all replies (all were he and I trying to figure the problem). So if anyone saw that you weren't dreaming, there were a ton more posts on this thread for a few minutes!

Okay, here are the Monte Diablo results I have compiled from CBT and HMP. There
were ten threads, and I was able to get two different posters posting result. Keep in
mind that these are UNOFFICIAL. The Commandoes are the official authority, I am just
playing sportscaster here.
