That's a gigantic oversimplification of the game... 
This is true, but I've seen my fair share of games played and lost by folks that need 7 and 8s to hit while their opponent needs 9 and 10s ... |

We ended up using the same mechs in 1v1 through all required rounds, with a different mech each round, but each player fielding the same mech. Worked out pretty well I think!

I didn't like it because just about every battle turned into a dice-rolling contest...
