And the writers were receiving complaint after complaint that the first sourcebook was taking so long in coming, and on it's release at CBT, the response has been primarily positive for this new format used in this one sourcebook...

I know that it's hard to work on something when there are people who constantly want you to work faster (both, management and fans). Letting out too much info before the work is done is the way now things go. Still rushing things forward means there will be things imperfect. As DM in D&D you want all info clear, if you don't want to make them yourself (and possibly making mistakes), and in similar way I want clear info. Like Karagin I'm forced to wait, if there will be some source book concerning these events, until then I'm stuck in 3067 era or waiting for something else to happen.

I´m playing two games with passion and in both there is happening something like this!
A huge war smashing all the political structures that were build up in almost two decades of playing!
In BT the Jihad wipes away all the Great Houses/Clans and in DSA (Das Schwarze Auge, "Mother"-RPG of TDE: The Dark Eye)
we have "Das Jahr des Feuers" (The Year of Fire), smashing the great "Middlerealm" into pieces!
The Designers said, that they have done this because they wanted to soften all the tight sociopolitical structures that were built up.

And Erthaia was destroyed in Might and Magic, ...

But the states still exist, see the post somewhere below this, there is a map ...

They would have handled it better, but it could have been worse.

The Wolves are the only ones allowed anywhere near Terra so what would the point be for the others?

Why strike Terra? Some clans held grudges from IS powers and you can always gain something when the others try to kill each other.

At least kicking IS Expedition forces from clan homeworlds (if they were still there) would be interesting to some clans.

Last year, while I was deployed to the Arabian Gulf, I was playing MechCommander 2 with out any problems at all on my Toshiba Satellite, running Windos XP with Service Pack 2. The Game ran fine. The only issue I had is one of the missions towards the end was absolutely impossible. I can't remember the mission number, but you have to assault some base with practically no support at all. And I kept getting shot up fairly quickly despite everyting I did/tried to include mechs used and tactics.

Oh well. I should tried it again.

Some of the later missions just screamed at me to fire up the cheat mode and do unlimited airstrikes...

ok my big beefs wit thi whole thing are as follows:

1) Mankind is an extremely paranoid species by nature. But at the same time, we can overcome that paranoia to wokr with others we might not like. That being said. the WOB would have been spotted by everyone and everyone would have been asking everyone else what they knew about the WOB's activities. Even IF the WOB managed to come up with the massive amounts of money needed to fund such a force people would MOST CERTAINLY NOTICE these forces moving around. If there were as many secret facilities and hidden warships, I'm sure Comstar would have already used the Warships or these facilities would have been found by others, or COMSTAR would have made use of them. If they were indeed old SLDF facilities and ships, it had been hundreds of years, since theywere last used. Warship crews don't just pop up out of the ground when you wave money over it. The Houses were just begining to get the hang of Warship construction and tactics and strategy. Space combat, other than fighters attacking Dropships, and vice versa hadn't been used in hundreds of years. I'm sorry, but it is true.

2) Like I said above someone would havenoticed something about what WOB was up to, and pointed it out ot someone else, and the chian grows. The Houses and the smaller political entities are smart enough, to work together when they have a common threat, dispite their differences. They did it with the Clans, it took them some time, but the more you do this the better you can do it , and the faster you learn to trust the other guy. So what I'm saying is that once someone noticed sometihng suspicious, it wouldn't take long for the Great Houses and the Smaller states to take action. The biggest give away would have bene the hiring and moving of all these Merc units. WOB would be viewed as a bigger threat the the Clans, if for no other reason then the fact that they are working form the inside of the IS instead of attacking from outside the IS. COMSTAR worked to hide its Army over hundred of years. WOB had 10, maybe 15 years? If a group that I didn't trust built up an army of this magnitiude that quickly I'd certainly take notice. If some little guy that was of no real threat ,suddenly built an Army to rival Several of the Great Houses combined, I'd be worried, and I'd certainly act on it. To heck with House rivalries. Our very survial is at stake. does that sound familiar? It should. Now they are still coming off their relatively fresh victory over the Cans.

I think it is time for a RESET of the RESET. Lets make it realisitic to some extent.

One employer hires that many different merc groups? He definitely has someithng BIG planned. Even if they hired them through dummy companies and what not, the Intelligence Agencies are mart enough to connect the dots.

::steppingoff my soapbox again::

Ok dumb question, here, but as I've been in Japan for 7 omnhts now, and completely out of contact with most of the known world for half of last year, who the heck is TPTB?

And there is no BT here at all in any way shpae or form that I have noticed even a hint of . . .

The middlerealm still exists like the Great Houses of BT but it lost parts of it and political bonds were destroyed.
So a free-for-all type of combat is no problem:
If you want to fight somebody you´ll have not to think about if he is an allie or a foe.
You´ll have no problem to fight any faction!

It could also be a hardware problem for me instead of a windows compatibility issue... but I dunno. When I get off my lazy *** and rebuild my fried Desktop I'll try it there. Anyways, thanks for the info Alexx.

No problem. I was using a Toshiba Satellite, Pentium 4, with 512MB of RAM and Windows XP Home with SP2. Another thing is that maybe your Cd has gone bad. The first one I had that came with the game wouldn't install the game, but it would run it. Then I caleld them and related the problem, they sent me a new CD. When received it from them, it installed fine and ran great. Keep me posted. Are there any cheat codes for it and wher can I find them?

I dunno about cheats, but I'm using a Balance Digital Technologies laptop with a Celeron M 1.5Ghz 256MB RAM and XP Home SP2. The game installs fine and everything, and when I ran it the first time it opens the config screen for the graphics settings.
