Hey..... someone in the same boat (minus one kid). Battletech becomes part of your blood. I am also looking to start playing in the new year, so perhaps as two cobweb filled old schools we can get something going with anyone else who would want to join. Do you prefer Old School (3025), Clan (3055 and such) or later?
I must also say that the group on this site are a great bunch.

I like 3025 myself, I don't know if it's me, but it's more brains, than brawn; It's more personal than 3050+

Do not worry there Paul. Some of can be just as clueless. how do you think I got the nickname Oafman in college? It was not just because of my ability to be clumsy at inopportune moments. It also points to the sometimes Oafish ways that I play war games. I have had plenty of games where I had to fight extra hard because of poor mech selection. It does teach you better tactics if you have to work around bad choices at the start of the battle. (eg taking a lance of mechs without jumping capabilities into a city against a lance of mechs that could jump. I still won the battle, but it was tough. Especially since I did not win a single initiative until the last 5 rounds. Of which I got inititive on all but 1)

gomen nasai, ever since Khan Martha Pryde began reconstructing Clan Jade Falcon, the quality of their warriors has become quite suspect.
In any case...I hope to see you at then end of my PPC soon enough, domo arrigato gozaimashita.

Always enjoyed watching a Clanner challenge an inner sphere warrior to a battle of equals, then take his Clan Tech mech against the inner sphere mech...
That's like challenging someone to a race, and showing up with a Formula I racer against their VW Bug.
I used to tend to find that folks that strictly play Clans tend to forget alot of the fine points of a match, and usually win through Boredom. (Running away to keep a distance knowing they outrange you, but forcing the to hits to be miserably bad, eventually you get bored and let them kill you).

Pin:You talk a good story,but talk is cheap I will happily take you on in a Circle of Equals in a Phantom C and you can take any mech of similar size and I will happily send you home with your tail between your legs like I have so many others.

I agree with chihawk. The only thing that may give you a chance is hios unfamiliarality with Clan tech. Even then, he'd probably still kick your butt.

Let him, it was the same Clanner arrogance that underestimated Kurita resolve in Wolcott and Luthien. Even that Liao pup humbled the famed Falcon Guards in Twycross. Not to mention that Archer Christifori humbled that same Falcon Guards in the same planet.
I'm not goint to be a fool to fight a 3050+ Clan mech with 3025 technology. I'll meet him in a comparable IS mech, otherwise all that clanner talk of honor is not worth more than surat dung.
