Ummm, NBC weapons are, as you state, pretty unusual in BT having appeared only 3 times in the more detailed history we have available since 3025. Are you sure that's really the word you want to use? Perhaps "contrived" might suit your purposes better?

As in Wolf`s Dragoons and their ClanTech certified techs, scientists and warriors? Boy, they must have had some 20,000 people mothballed with those Warships. Where else could they have hidden them? Not that FASA didn`t manage to screw up their writing before, but that was one of the better ones. "Clan Origins" my arse! That`s like saying that a colonial regiment with ten British officers and two thousand African riflemen have "British Origins".

Either work...the trite on old guard units get taken out...and the contrived on the lack of thinking as to this plot line and use of the nukes...

But hey enjoy the bright future and dark night...that is now the game...

Nukes are self defeating...You can't live where you nuke... You can't grow stuff where you nuke.... Glass plates don't make very good homesteads...

But they do work if all that you are interested in is control. Nuke what you cannot control and then control what you can and you are undisputed master of the Inner Sphere and First Lord of a seriously warped Star League.

Or at least like the look of your glowing reflection!

I'm not going to pick sides and say that the new storyline is a piece of s**t just because they pulled nukes out. And I'm not going to say that it's great because they've reduced the game back to the small level units, and are doing the whole Road Warrior 3067 scene.

I do, however, understand how nukes were the best way to bring the new timelines forward (and the only real plausible method, as well). I don't like nukes myself (real soldiers hate them more than civilians will ever know), but, it does make the logistics of the Jihad much simpler for the WoBs. You don't need an army to fight on a planet thats been irradiated. Therefore, I don't believe that the WoBs needed a huge army full of 'Mech and Infantry Regiments. Theirs was obviously a campaign of destruction, and not occupation.

I know Karagin doesn't like the new storyline, nor do I particularly, but, I have accepted it as the new cannon, and have moved on. Will I play, or even follw DA? I haven't decided. But, I atleast accept the possiblity of the the storyline. Nukes are cheap. Cheap enough for third world nations on present day earth to have aresnals of them. How is it so hard to believe that the WoB, (who control Terra and it's cache of technology, and who allied with the FWL who also have a great deal of technology,) could have them as well.

Alexander (That is my last post on that!)

One thing you have to remember is that Comstar used to worship Technology, and Nukes are tech.... VERY powerful tech really nice tools for ummm... collecting overdue payments on HPG use when you don't have the man power to do it the oldfasioned way. Terra being such an important planet would be loaded with nukes (unless the commander had any brains but we'll assume he/she didn't), and the WOBies took Terra by suprise. Giving them LOTS of nukes.

BTW yes Third Wolrd countries of modern day do have nukes, lots of them and often ours, but they don't have the triggers for them.

Ummm... Civil War cost too much to fight effectivly, second since The Fed Com is no more so Victor's people have no common boarder with Marik and from what I read on that Comstar sight Victor doesn't rule the Fed Suns (his younger brother maybe?) and I'm betting Adam Steiner will take over the Lyran half. And Com Star is WAY to under manned to do the job.

You'd be wrong in both cases...

*spoilers ahead*

Try Yvonne in the Suns, Peter in the Lyran nation...after Peter sends a Thor's Hammer shell through Auntie Nondi's Hauptmann's head in the middle of Tharkad City, and Vic sends Katherine off packing to the Wolves after she surrenders and Yvonne asks Tancred Sandavol to marry her with Vic's backing and insistance...

that is corect!

but in a previous novel Vicot talks of his knowing who Marik is...and with Comstar behind him now...victor can prolly smack him around...but with the loss of 3 divisions...maybe not. :\
