I tend to go for snapshots too, actually. I like the extra stuff, and it's really not all that unstable. I have Stable 10 and one of the snapshots (from December, I think) installed alongside one another right now. But I reommended the latest stable version because he's just starting with the program, and because he's having trouble running it.

My machine wouldn't start MegaMek with any of the batches. It works fine if I double-click the MegaMek.jar file. Go figure. Click it again if you want to start a 'bot as an opponent.
