To save on the continual die rolling I was just going to use pre-drawn flows. Just look at Hawaii, most of the lava flows travel approximately the same path each time. well, could you imagine a the tactical problem that a lava flow that suddenly changes direction from the expected path bring to the pilot? specially when he is in the way of that flow?

it's just a thought though...

I thought about that. It depends on who you are playing with. If the other players do not mind adding more die rolls then that would be even better. Thinking you are safely out of the flow and then get swamped with lava.

KABOOM bye bye locust

Like you said you said, it depends who you play with, but can you imagine the posibilities?A Lava flow that suddenly splits?

One die roll would determine if it stays on path, changes direction and splits.

If it changes direction you throw another die roll to determine which way the lava would flow.

Same if it splits, you would have to throw twice to determine the direction of the branches.

It is a little bit cumbersome but it makes changing tactical situations very interesting. The player not only would have to watch out for enemy mechs, but keep an eye on where he is standing every turn. If the mech doesn't have jump jets he could be in serious trouble if all of a sudden he is surrounded by the lava flow.

Can you imagine a non-jumping mech getting stuck just under a fork in the flow? Because the areas around the flow would be heavily forested, the lava would set the trees on fire. So they would be trapped in the middle of a forest fire. Great cover because of the smoke, but would suck if you were already shutdown because of heat.
