Can i edit my mech designs in the databank and if yes: how?

Short answer, no.
I'm likely going to implement a change for that because I already have the ability to edit any design through my admin modules. All I really need to do is open that up by putting an icon for editing (or something). I also need to determine what to do with reviews. I'm thinking of putting a revision number to each design and indicating what revision the review was against. That'll be the easiest thing to do with the least amount of work.

I just want to edit some minor things like era or too much exclamation marks in several texts

Not only is it on the radar, it's actually in the works! I've got about 75% of it worked out already. A lot of things complicated it, like what happens to reviews, ratings, etc when a design is edited? So the answer is, every time you save a design it creates a revision. The reviews and ratings are tied to that revision.
Each revision of a design can actually be viewed as well. So the listing will only show the latest, but when viewing that, you'll notice that there may be 5 other revisions, and you can view those older ones as well, potentially to see how a design has evolved over time; or perhaps you want to go back to the way something was.
So it is definitely coming with the next site update!

Hoping Mordel has already addressed this in his programming...what's to stop another user from editing a design? Or is the edit function tied to the name of the uploader?

What do you think, I'm a rookie or something? 
Of course it's been considered. You're only allowed to edit designs you've submitted. The exception being an admin who has been granted rights to edit all designs.

I'm not following the question. If you submit a design, once I finish this off, you'll be able to click the 'Edit' icon to load it, make tweaks, then re-submit.
