Overview:
The Alpha is a mystery. In 3034 parts of the Metal Ants mercenary regiment hunted down
pirates in Kurita space near the core-wart periphery border. Among the captured mechs was a
model unknown to all recognition data. The pilot, who was captured with his machine, was
interrogated about the origin of the mech (among other things) but could only tell, that it
was found abandoned on an uncharted planet 3 years ago without any trace of how it got
there. He himself dubbed it the A-1 Alpha.
After a detailed examination the mystery wasn't`t solved: no chassis-number, model-number or
company-emblem much less a military one was found. Individual components like heat sinks or
weapons resembled types used by Earthwerks some 500 years ago but seemed to be just out of
the factory a few years ago.
At last it was integrated into the Metal Ants' 2nd Auxiliary Battalion.
Capabilities:
A large laser is it's main weapon supported by an LRM-10 launcher at longer ranges and a
pair of medium laser at shorter ranges. The heat sink system can handle the heat of the
lasers but simultaneously firing the jumpjets can overtax it easyly. Instead of carrying
ammunition in a well protected torso location the Alpha carries it's LRM's in the arm next
to the launcher.
Speed, weapons and armor are well balanced.
Deployment:
The only mech of this type is currently deployed by the Metal Ants mercenary regiment.

I built this for a former player in our group about ... 30 years ago. It is based on the old 55-tonners which according to him had either too little firepower or no weapons without min-range. So i came up with this.
He was also fond of brawling so he called for mounting any weapons usable in short range combat into the torsos. _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' Very similar to the 1S Griffin. Main differences are the LRM 5 of the 1S vs the Alpha's LRM 10, and a few heat sinks...
