8 LRM salvos? Seriouly someone used a 7 tons on a weapon to have it fire only eight times? I'd drop one of the lasers for more ammo, or avoid that compact gyro or engine to actually mount some more weapons.

In the official mechs the compact stuff seems to be used to stuff heavy ferro armor in. But you can never save enough armor tonnage to justify the use of a compact engine.

Compact engine is mostly about having less crits to be hit, but seriously the tonnage is not worth it.

OK, i haven't seen it from this angle.
I've too little experience in playing with that engine.

An armored compact engine is REALLY hard to Crit to death.

Well, the problem is that after you start collecting internals, your torso caves in shortly thereafter anyway, unless you use it to fight AP ammo slamming in your torso all game from some AC/5 spammer.
