Can we all just agree that this.... IS.... AWESOME!!!
Even discounting the mad bonuses that the system grants (-2 to gunnery and -2 piloting) it mad cool.
Its a power armored pilot. The pilot... is wearing... power armor!
Who here has not at one time or another thought about putting a BA in a Mech cockpit. Furthermore, the system effectively makes the Mech an over sized Protomech or Battle Armor. The pilot LITERALLY makes the Mech move via body movements and thoughts.
ITS ROBOTJOCKS BUT BETTER!
My next question: why have the Clans not adopted this technology?
More to come later. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

Wasn't the DNI stuff from UNBOUND suppose to do this? _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato

Yeah, I don't know the stat difference, but the neural interface stuff from the old days was the equivalent, I think. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

The DNI from unbound was 'refined' and was upgraded into the VDNI, which itself was refined into the BVDNI.
But the DNI is just a brain plug. It replaces the Neurohelmet.
This system though replace the entire control scheme via a DNI connection to a BA suit.
As for the bonuses:
DNI - -2 gunnery, -3 piloting. Insanity chance (1 year). Without drug inhibitor, pilots suffer 1 dmg EVERY time the Mech is hit and not just the head.
VDNI - -1 gunnery, -1 piloting. Insanity chance (~5 years). Potential pilot damage from internal and critical hits.
BVDNI - -1 gunnery, negates Small Cockpit PSR mod. Insanity chance (~8 years). Potential pilot damage from internal and critical hits.
EI - -1 piloting. Lower terrain modifiers. Nightvision. Can aim shots as if equipped with a TC. Insanity chance (~3 years). Potential pilot damage from internal and critical hits. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

This is starting to sound a lot like the interface that the Titan pilots and crew have in WARHAMMER 40K. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato
