from having a dual cockpit as part of their standard design?
I think that mechs like the Archer and Stalker and Catapult would gain a lot form having the dual cockpit on them.
What mechs you do folks think these (the dual cockpits) would help? Or hurt even.

For starters, the Cyclops, Atlas, and Battlemaster. These mechs are usually assigned to unit commanders to pilot, so a second person up there to actually pilot and fight while the commander monitors the battle would be good. In addition, the Rifleman looks like a good candidate, considering its primary role as air defense.

Well, this one is obsolete due to all the new crap coming out...but the 3050 Awesome would be good. Not too many people like to screw with an Awesome, and it has good long range weaponry so it can sit back, watch the fight and pop off shots when something comes up. If it had to it could survive a toe to toe with many other 'mechs. No pesky ammo explosions to risk the commander, though the heat might get him.
I say its obsolete now, cause everybody is toting around 80 tonners with AC-20s, and something like an Awesome is old news.
Another good candidate would be the Grand Crusader.

The obvious ones (Atlas, Cyclops, and Battlemaster) were already covered, but there's one other traditionally that was constructed with the double-whammy:
The Chameleon.
I'm not as familliar with the newer mechs as I should be (3055? It burns, it burns!) so I'll leave off that set. But, there're the ones I know of.

The newer mechs? Here's a few:
Longbow (fire support)
O-Bakemono (ditto)
Yeoman (ditto)
Maelstrom (it appears that it's slowly being portrayed as a commander's mech)
Dragon Fire (ditto)
Nightstar (ditto)
Shootist (ditto)
Sunder (it's an omni, so it can be command)
Avatar (ditto)
Black Hawk KU (that head assembly just looks like a cockpit)
Firestarter/Firestarter-O (being portrayed as command)
Sagittaire

I think I would go mental as a MechWarrior Officer who had to sit idly by in a Mech as an inferior piloted it.Depending on their skills instead of my own to keep me safe. Give me my own mech everytime, or I'll sit tight at a command center if it's too dangerous to be out with the troops.
I see no reason to have dual cockpits in anything but a training mech such as a Chameleon.

Being out with her troops killed that female General of the Light Horse on Huntress. Of course the whole darn regiment was pretty much toast so that has some bearing on the situation.
