In 2008, the Battletech group I had going fell apart after one of the players was killed under tragic circumstances; most of the people who I could still contact after his passing just didn't feel right continuing on with the campaign.
I tried again a few years later to get a group going, but one player moved with his family and the other simply dropped out of sight.
My current computer issues limit how long I can be online at a time, and this - coupled with the writer's block I now periodically suffer from - has kept me from writing any fic for months now. Said woes are also keeping me from attempting any of the old Battletech computer games I have.
I know of only one place in the area that has anything resembling an active Battletech group, but they meet on a night when I work.
With my long-time gaming buddy working odd and unpredictable hours nowadays, I'm having a hard time getting anyone together.
I want to get back into BTech, but as far as playing or writing it's likely going to be a while. I'm reading through a few of the old novels now, but I don't know how far that will take me.
So for those of you who have been out of the game for a while -
How have you gotten back into it?
Thanks. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Wolfwood to a random cat (Trigun)

I have kept in it by regularly playing Megamek. Even if its just the AI, it can be a load of fun to just get in there and kill crap. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

I haven't really been out, but I haven't really been in either. I play at the convention once a year and maybe a summer game but that's about it. Enough to keep me happy I guess. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

I'm presently most of the way through the first book of the Jade Falcon trilogy.
I miss the fact that the novels used to have illustrations in the text and vehicle images in the back. Made things a lot easier for people who weren't already fans of the franchise to understand what was going on. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." I have been out for a while now. But i had a chance encounter a few months ago at my local mall. I met one of the owners of CATALYST GAME LABS. And after talking to him about everything from b-tech (and the possile return of oop mechs) to Star wars x wing (great tabletop game) to the firefly game. It really sparked my interest again. So much so that i have even started writing my own btech book. But i am rereading sourcebooks and novels. _________________ Stinger If it's "creepy" to use the Internet, military satellites, and robot aircraft to find a house full of gorgeous young models so I can drop in on them unexpected, then FINE, I'm "creepy".
