==Overview:==
The last 25 years have not been kind to Clan Jade Falcon. Between Tukkayid,
the invasion attempts of the Lyran Alliance, the fighting with the Wolves, the
defense of Strana Mechty, and now the Jihad, the Falcon forces have been
absolutely shredded; indeed, the Falcon mech arsenal has been so depleted that
even before the Jihad one could see retrofitted Inner Sphere mechs in
front-line Clan forces.
In an effort to try and reverse their fortunes, the clan commission the mech
that would become the Pride, which was to be a comparitively cheap, low-tech
multi-role mech that could be built rapidly and deployed quickly in order to
help restore the clan's numbers.
Only time will tell if the Pride actually lives up to the hype.
==Capabilities:==
Of note is the ER Medium Laser that is fixed in the head. According to
reports, this was added so that Pride pilots could continue fighting even if
all other weapons were destroyed or their ammunition was depleted. The logic,
it seems, is that any hit which is able to destroy a head-mounted weapon is
likely going to kill the pilot anyway.

==Variants:==
The Primary version of this new machine appears to be a quite literal
multi-role machine. The ER PPC and UAC/2 allow the mech to snipe targets from
range. The active probe combined with the twin machine guns and twin ER Small
Lasers makes the machine a threat to infantry and battle armor. The twin
Streak 2s and the ATM 3 launcher, combined with the ER Medium Laser, enables
the mech to engage targets at closer range.
Of note is that this model carries a large quantity of ammunition for its
weapons, suggesting an intended lengthy deployment in the field.
This model also has only 10 double heat sinks, and so pilots will need to
exercise fire discipline.

The A version appears to be little more than a modified version of the Prime
model, but scratching the surface reveals a far more deadly machine.
It would seem that the Falcons have taken the lessons learned from both
engagements with Inner Sphere forces and the relative success of the Bane on
the battlefield and decided to create a front-line tactical sharpshooter. The
UAC/2 and the ER PPC are now backed up by a targeting computer to improve
their accuracy, with an ECM suite and jump jets installed to help keep
opposing mechs from locating and engaging it; an extra heat sink has been
added to deal with the heat from the jets.
The trade-off with this mode, however, is that the short- and medium-range
firepower has been reduced dramatically; the machine guns and ATM 3 have been
removed, and only one Streak 2 and ER Small remain.

The B version appears to be either intended for urban combat or infantry and
battle armor suppression, if not both.
The repositioned jump jets allow the mech increased mobility, and the ECM
helps the mech remain undetected until it gets to range.
The Active Probe helps the pilot find opposing forces, and once found the twin
ATM 9s and the twin machine guns permit the pilot to engage at close-quarters.
Four A-Pods serve to protect the mech if infantry or battle armor gets too
close.
Potentially worrisome about this version - at least for the pilots - is the
fact that the ER Medium Laser is the only energy weapon. The ATMs only have
enough ammunition for 2.33 minutes of continuous fire, and the machine guns
are only useful if the target remains within a certain range. It is therefore
possible that this version may wind up reserved for pilots who have lost their
luster but have not quite earned a place in a solahma unit.

I injured myself in an accident that day, and so fired up HM Pro to help distract myself from how low I was feeling. I was largely just tinkering with the design in order to see what I could get from various weapons combinations.
