==Overview:==
Vehicles have an odd place in Clan society. Originally, Nicolas Kerensky
intended for the Clans to include a signficant vehicle element in every
Cluster, but only the Horse's and Spirits eschew to that vision today. Over
the passage of time, vehicles have become regulated to garrison units (except
among the Horse's and Spirits) and there are only a handful of designs among
the Clans that use modern technology.
Instead of the vast number of vehicles used by the Inner Sphere, the Clans of
today use a handful of designs intended for specific roles. Among them is the
primary Clan main battle tank: the Minerva.
==Capabilities:==
Massing 50-tons, the Minerva is one of the largest combat vehicles typically
fielded by the Clans. Like many other Clan war-machines, this tank uses
advanced technology to make it faster, stronger, and more powerful than its
closest Inner Sphere relatives.
The basic design uses a 250-rate fusion engine that provides sufficient power
for this tracked vehicle to move at speeds of 54 kilometers per hour
(cruising) and 86.4 kph (flank). Six and a half tons of ferro-fibrous armor
plating seems light compared to many IS battle tanks, but given that the Clans
tend to regard vehicles as expendable combat assets this is seen as adequete.
Armament is concentrated in the turret of this design and consists of an ER
Large Laser, with an AP Gauss Rifle mounted co-axial. On the right side of
the turret is a 10-tube long-range missile box launcher with Artemis IV, while
the left features a quad-launch system for Streak SRMs. Twenty-four LRM
flights and twenty-five SRM flights are stored in the main body of the tank.
All explosive components are protected by CASE.
Crew consists of two Warriors (a vehicle commander and a gunner, both
stationed in the turret) and two Technications (a driver and a sensor/comm
tech stationed in the main hull).
==Variants:==
The Mod 2 version removes the LRM-10 rack and ammunition and features a
different hull design. This model installs a 5-ton bay in the rear of the
tank that is able to accomodate a point of conventional infantry or 5
Elemental Warriors in battle armor. Access is through a rear ramp. In
addition, the Mod 2 mounts a second AP Gauss Rifle on a pintle mount over the
commander's hatch. This APG can be operated either remotely or manned.
==Deployment==
A typical Clan Provisional Garrison Cluster includes five Trinary formations
consisting of two vehicle Stars (20 vehicles) and one infantry Star (125
infantry troopers or 25 Elementals). Clan Hell's Horses and Blood Spirits
also employ vehicle Stars and Novas directly as part of their combat toumen,
either with a Star of 10 vehicles or a Nova of 10 vehicles and 25 elementals.
The Minerva is a solid, dependable, mid-weight machine that many Inner Sphere
armored force commanders would kill their mothers for. Small enough to be
transported in a light vehicle bay, it nonetheless has very high rate of speed
for a tracked vehicle and carries a level fo firepower all out of proportion
for its size.

==Overview:==
The Diana is the standard hovertank of the Clans. Fast, well-armored, and
moderately well-armed, the Diana fits well into the Clan mindset.
==Capabilities:==
Massing 45-tons, the Diana is on the large size for a hovercraft and uses a
170-rate Fusion engine that gives the design a cruise speed of 97.2 kilometers
per hour and a flank speed of 151.2 kph. Six and a half tons of
ferro-aluminum armor plating are carried by the Diana, providing protection
equal to the Minerva tracked tank.
Like the Minerva, two Warriors are assigned to the crew (a vehicle commander
and a gunner), but the Diana lacks the deciated sensor/comm tech, having only
a single Technication as its third crewman who serves as the driver. As with
the tracked vehicle, all weapons are turret mounted.
This design features twin ER Medium Lasers with a co-axial AP Gauss Rifle (40
shots). A second remote operated AP Gauss Rifle (40 shots) is mounted on a
pintle above the commander's hatch. Two heavy missile systems are included in
the design: a fifteen-tube LRM-rack with Artemis IV on the right side of the
turret and a six-tube Streak SRM system on the left side. Twenty-four LRM
flights are standard, as are fifteen SRM flights.
==Variants:==
The Mod 2 removes some weapons systems and has a redesign lower hull to
accomodate a 5-ton compartment able to lift a point of conventional infantry
or Elementals. This version reduces the LRM-15 rack to a -10 rack, keeping
same number of missile flights while reducing the tonnage by a third,
down-grades the Streak SRM-6 to an SRM-4, and removes one of the two AP Gauss
Rifles and its magazine.
==Deployment==
In much the same fashion as the Minera, the Diana is deployed in either Stars
of 10 or in a Nova consisting of 10 vehicles and either 125 conventional
infantry troopers or 25 Elementals in battle armor. Due to the speed of these
units, the Dianas are often used as recon assets or flankers, augmenting the
more stable Minveras.

I considered adding in a VTOL (just to complete the triumverite of track, hover, VTOL), but then decided against it. I can see them using choppers in a noncombat role, but do you think they would actually have a combat VTOL design in service?

As many combat VTOLs as the SDLF had I do see the Clans having them, at least the Horses for sure and I think the Spirits still would just because it was the was it was supposed to be. Heck I could also see some of the more resource needy clans like the Cobras having a few around.
What about a conventional fighter for the Ravens and Cobras at least for their aged fighter pilots?

The Hecate is the most commonly encountered Clan VTOL that serves as a light
scout and platform for deploying air-mobile infantry assets.
==Capabilities:==
Massing 25-tons, the Hecate uses a 160-rate fusion engine that provides a
cruise speed of 129.6 kilometers per hour and a flank speed of 194.4 kph.
Only one and a half ton of ferro-fibrous armor plating is carried, but this
usual for any type of VTOL to feature limited armor. Armament consists of an
ER Large Laser in the nose of the vehicle, giving both exceptional damage and
range. Along side the laser is a TAG allowing the Hecate to call in Arrow IV
munitions, while an ECM Suite is used to jam enemy communications and disrupt
missile flights.
==Variants:==
The Mod 2 removes all weapons and equipment. This version boasts a five-ton
cargo bay able to hold a point of either conventional infantry (25 troopers)
or Elementals (5 Warriors). Armament is limited to a pair of LRM-5 launchers,
supplied by a single common ton of ammunition (12 shots each).
==Deployment==
Normally, one Trinary in a PGC is a VTOL equipped Trinary. This element
consists of two Stars of Hecates (15 Mod 1 and 5 Mod 2) and a Star of either
conventional infantry or Elementals.
Clan Hell's Horses uses the Hecate extensively in front-line service, allowing
this fast, light VTOL to provide recon data and screen the flanks of the
Horse's Mechanized formations.
