I've thought a lot about the torpedo-launchers, that are available for BT in the last time.
When i hear "torpedo" I'm seeing a sleek and deadly metal body gliding through water towards its pray and not a bunch of tiny, rocket-propelled "missiles.
I'm just not comfortable with this picture
So i "evaluated" some ideas to fix that:
-First i invented a kind of guided torpedo, moving in the water similar to a teleoperated missile in space but with less maneuverability.
-The second idea was a torpedo-version of the Thunderbolt-missile.
-The third was an LRT/SRT-variant, that shoot single torpedoes with either the average damage or with the full damage plus a +1-to-hit modifier for compensation.
But all should get a modifier to the hull-integrity-roll to make them as dangerous as the multi-hit SRT/LRT we have now.
What do you think? _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' (Look at it, squeal it, get the hell away from it!) – Motto of the recon troops'Artillery doesn´t know friend or foe! They only know worthwhile targets!‘ – Kuritan Infantrist

When I looked through the stuff on torpedoes, especially in light of the way that they were portrayed in the video games, I got the impression that they were simply standard LRMs and SRMS that had been modified to function underwater, such as using a propeller mechanism in place of the rocket motor.
Your streak launchers are about the closest things we have in the BTech verse to the traditional guided missile outside of some one-off mentions in the novels. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat." Heh... the easiest way to fix this would be converting thunderbolt launchers for underwater use. Suddenly you have a the torpedo you wanted AND there will be no standard AMS threatening to shoot them down. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

You need to also remember that an SRM2 and SRM2 Torpedo are separate weapons, so there's nothing to say they aren't "a sleek and deadly metal body gliding through water towards its pray". _________________ www.210sportsblog.com

Exactly that was my second idea
We never allowed to shoot down torpedoes with an AMS anyway . _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' Sure. I see them the same way. The guided-thing wasn't really my point. I want a single big torpedo and not a swarm of smaller ones _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' I know, thats why i wrote SRT/LRT
And i thought of 2 damage torpedoes as "sleek and not so deadly metal body" _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' You get full range and a 10+ chance to breach the location you hit...that's about as deadly as it gets underwater. _________________ www.210sportsblog.com

I was referring to Thunderbolts being shot down regularly. The porblem doesn't exist underwater, as the AMS, as a ballistic weapon, doesn't wok there. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

Sure, but still not, what i think of, when i hear "torpedo"
That is another problem as three SRT-6 nearly mean an instant kill if all three hit. _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' I just misunderstood you then
That was one thing why the thunderbolts never really get used by us. _________________ Reality is where the Pizza-man comes from!'Gucken, petzen, verpissen!' Ummm, yeah. That's why fighting underwater isn't such a good idea. _________________ www.210sportsblog.com

i still rule that the armored component from maxtech and TacOps prevents a component from being disabled by a breached location. Since its treated kinda like a critical hit, i figure the armor stops the breach effect. makes a very heavy quad with 2 lrm/10s. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

I disagree with that...the component might not be flooded, but everything else in the flooded section is, which makes anything in that section inoperable. _________________ www.210sportsblog.com
