Swiftfire is an omni-vehicle inspired by the recquirements for the Jari Modular Tank, a marriage of the most basic structural components with omni technology for maximal ease of maintenance and repair. I also wanted to somehow keep the feel (and ugliness) of the combat helicopters used by various militaries around the break between 20th and 21st sentury.
Code: |
Swiftfire Attack Helicopter
IS V.T.O.L. level 2
Mass: 30t
Internal structure: 3t
Engine: 70 I.C.E 4t
MP: 7/11
Heat sinks: - 0t
Control equipment: 1.5t
Rotors: 1.5t
Armor: standard 48 3t
Internal structure armor
Front: 3 16
R/L Side: 3/3 10/10
Rear: 3 10
Rotor: 3 2
Pod space: 11 items 16.5t
Weapons and ammo location tonnage
primary configuration
2 MML 7 Front 9t
MML 7 (28) Body 2t
3 LMG Front 1.5t
MG Array Front 0.5t
LMG (150) Body 0.5t
C3 slave Body 1t
Beagle AP Body 1.5t
TAG Front 1t
I wanted this to look like the typical helicopter flying around these days. Minigun, two bundles of guided missiles and electronics allowing the you to hit something from afar, prferably without having LOS on the target.
configuration A
2 MRM 10 Front 6t
MRM 10 (24) Body 1t
Light AC/2 Front 1t
Light AC/2 (45) Body 1t
Cargo Body 4t
A terrible misceraetion... try to imagine how would you make space for 21 jump infantrymen or four BAs on a thing like Cobra... perhaps it coulkd have two armoured plates, not unlike tectrices of a bug with infantry straped directly to them and to the fuselage covered by them, Which would be a terrible ride, but inserting the troops on the field would be lightning quick...
configuration B
light gauss Front 12t
light gauss (16) Body 1t
Targetting comp. Front 3t
RL 10 Rear 1t
A nice little sniper, but the pilots will probably opt for additional ammo instead of those rockets... Oh well, tournament legal rules.
configuration C
RAC/5 Front 10t
RAC/5 (60) Body 3t
AMS Front 0.5t
AMS (12) Rear 1t
4 RL 10 Front 2t
By far the least favourite configuration for the pilots. To maximize the chance to hit you'd have to play a sitting duck without all the distance that would separate you from the enemy. Still having a helicopter with a GAU 8-like gun is too yummy for me to avoid.
Configuration D
2 MML 5 + AIV Front 7t
MML 5 (48) Body 2t
GECM Suite Front 1.5t
C3 master Body 1t
D configuration serves as a coordinator of a vehicle lance. It's best defense would probably be indirect fire from behind a hill or something like that, keeping the TAG for self-defense.

Thank you!
I don't have the HMV, so feel free to create them and post for all
I'm currently working on a MBT design and swifter VTOL with the same specifications (ICE engine, standard armour and omni technology). I should create some fluff, but the designs is so generic, that I should probably create just different names and let all the states build their own variants, that may differ in shape, but ultimately share the same specifications. Each nation would have it's own preferences in weapons, fitting their army's doctrine, but it would all work with the basic components.
Edit:I can't help myslef but to be rather pleased, how the configurations turned out without any energy weapons and I'm glad that I resisted the lure of the fusion engine. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!
