==Overview:==
By the early 3060s, the Taurian Concordat was left in something of a bind
militarily.
Although by all rights it should be able to have an army rivaling that of any
Successor State, infighting, bureacratic difficulties, and an inability to
upgrade its factories as fast as was needful left the unit barely even able to
field a modest force. Even then, few actual designs (such as the Maultier and
the Marshall) were native to the nation.
In an effort to reverse the trend, the decision was made to try and produce an
indigenous combat vehicle that made use of components that were commonly
available. Thus, the "Lasher" tank - named for the belief that it could be
used to give the nation's opponents their lashings - came to be... after some
bureacratic dealings were dealt with.
==Capabilities:==
The main weapon of the Lasher is the tried and true AC/5; the original plan
called for an AC/10 to take advantage of the stockpiling weapons, but that was
dropped to save tonnage for the minesweeper and add some armor. The AC/5 is a
modest weapon, one that most tank crews in the nation are already familiar
with. Supporting it is an SRM 2, which some test crews preferred to stock with
inferno rounds as a deterrent against battle armor. Additionally, the small
cargo space inside the vehicle is usually used to house an infantry support
weapon such as a heavy machine gun in the event that the crew should have to
continue the mission on foot.
Controversially, the base model comes with a front-mounted minesweeper. There
was a strong push to sell the vehicle in the Chaos March and to select other
Prehiphery nations, regions where there was a strong demand for cheap
vehicles. Landmines are commonly encountered, thus a minesweeper would be more
attractive. The logic was that by selling the Lasher for export, the nation
could raise badly-needed money. However, as noted above the decision came at
the cost of the much more powerful AC/10 that was originally planned.
Additionally, the armor on the Lasher is slightly thinner than other tanks of
its size. Test crews expressed some level of concern, but were ultimately
grateful that the unit had more armor on the finished version than the early
prototype.

Been playing a lot of Red Alert?
Makes a good minesweeper, but I doubt I'd use it as a front line tank. Kind of a toss up between this and the Vedette in that situation. (But I'd prefer the Myrmidon to either one.) _________________ Jarylan Blackwell

It's actually how I've been getting my homework done, believe it or not.
My textbooks for the past two semesters have been so bloody boring that I can't focus on them.
Instead, I'll put the disk in, throw it into skirmish mode, and read while I'm waiting for my buildings and units to get created. _________________ "I wish I could write as mysterious as a cat." -Edgar Allen Poe"I knew there was something special about you, but I never realized you were really a cat."
