I've been building wargames terrain professionally for about 10 years, which got me into paper terrain, which got me into paper models.
I found out there are several Battletech models out there, mostly from MW3 and Mech Commander II. They are all roughly 28mm scale, which means you can use them with easy to-find troops and vehicles (1:48 scale works well with them too)
Included are some of Harmony Gold 14, like the classic Marauder/Ossifer's Pod.
Best of all, they are free.
Other than the published "Large Scale Battletech" rules, does anyone have any house rules or ideas? What about a play area?
And (evil laugh ) what about dropships? _________________ Storm "The More that thou sweatest and swearest in training, the less thou bleedest and diest in combat."--Dick Marcinko

Sorry, I'm fortunate enough when I get to play a game with paper clips. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

I actually haven't had a chance to play in a couple of years. Sigh......

that makes it then... All of us boys need to at least get together and play a game on Megamek. Maybe a classic game or a simple FFA.

Never played Megamek. My first experience was in VirtualWorld in Chicago. Yeah, the simulator was enough to get me hooked.
Then Classic 3rd Edition, then MW4, then Mechcommander 2. I tried my brother's Xbox version of Mechassault. There were a lot of cool things in there (like jacking the mech out from under the pilot), but I ain't got the coordination for a console. Stick me on my PC, though, and I can hold my own fairly well.
That's pretty much my experience. And to those who may ask (not here, thank God), NO. I do NOT play "Magic." I grew up in Nevada where playing cards involves the loss of money, clothes, or both.
